Dr Kamran Arshad

Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering at the Ajman University, UAE. Dr Kamran Arshad is an Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering at the Ajman University, UAE.He is a Senior Member of IEEE, Senior Fellow of UK Higher Education Academy and a Senior Fellow of Greenwich Opportunities in Learning and Development (GOLD). He has been associated with the University of Greenwich, UK as a Senior Lecturer and Program Director of MSc Wireless Mobile Communications Systems Engineeringfrom January 2012 till January 2016. Dr Arshad has 100+ technical peer-reviewed papers in top quality journals and international conferences. He received 3 best paper awards, 1 best R&D track award and chaired technical sessions in several leading international conferences. Dr Arshad is one of the founding members of the IEEE Special Interest Group on Green Smart Grid Communications, delivered keynote/guest/invited talks at several international forums/conferences/workshops and became a panellist in IEEE PIMRC 2011 workshop on cognitive radio. Dr Arshad also authored/co-authored 25+ technical reports submitted to the European Commission. He served 90+ international conferences as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member, an Associate Editor of EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking and an editor of several international journals. Prior to joining the University of Greenwich in 2012, Dr Arshad worked with Centre for Communication Systems Research(currently Institute of Communication Systems) at the University of Surrey, UK. In this position, Dr Arshad has contributed to several European and international large-scale research projects. Dr Arshad also worked as a project manager at the University of Surrey for the European project QoSMOS and lead University of Surrey team involved in the project. Dr Arshad actively contributed in several other European projects (e.g. E3, Acropolis, OneFIT and C2Power) and EPSRC/DST funded project India-UK Advanced Technology Centre (IUATC). Dr Arshad has research interests in Future Wireless and Mobile Networks, Cognitive Radio, LTE/LTE-A, 5G, PHY algorithms and wireless channel modelling.

Dr.C.E.Veni Madhavan

Professor, Department of Computer Science & Automation,Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. C.E.Veni Madhavan obtained his academic degrees, B.E.(Electrical Engineering) from College of Engineering, Madras, in 1969, M.E (Control Systems) from BITS Pilani, in 1971 and PhD (Control theory) from Indian Institute of Science in 1975. He worked in the industry, Air India (1976-1977), National Informatics Center(1977-1982), before joining the Computer Science and Automation department of IISc in 1983. He was a senior professor in the CSA department and retired formally in August 2014. He was the Chairman of CSA department during 1998-2000. He was invited to head the DRDO laboratory, SAG, New Delhi, during 2000-2003. His current research areas of interest are computational linguistics and pragmatic cryptanalysis. He continues to work, in IISc, on three R&D projects in the areas of cryptography and natural language processing and on several technical advisory tasks spanning government policy and academic and research mentorship. He has worked on many scientific, industrial consulting and development projects sponsored by government and corporate sectors in these areas. He has published over 80 papers in refereed journals and conferences,and delivered over 200 invited talks in national conferences and universities. He has guided 15 PhD, 11 MS and over 100 ME theses. Some of his project engagements were in the areas of cryptanalysis (MCIT), cryptography (TCoE-DOT) and cognitive networks (DST). He is the co-author of a book on Public-key Cryptography published in India in 2009. He obtained in 2001, an award by the Mathematical Association of India, for distinguished services in mathematics education and research. He obtained in March 2011, an award by IISc, for Excellence in Research in Engineering. He and co-authors obtained a Best Paper Prize in July 2011, in Boston USA,in the Annual Conference of the Cognitive Science Society. He was an Associate Faculty of the Centre for Neuroscience of IISc. He was the Chief Executive of the Society for Innovation and Development (SID) of IISc, during 2006-2012. He is closely associated with the professional bodies, the Cryptology Research Society of India, and the Ramanujan Mathematical Society. He also works very closely with the government policy and R&D funding panels of DST, MCIT, DRDO, NSCS, IFCPAR, NRB and with academic councils of universities and research centers, in his capacity as expert member or Chairman.

Dr. P. S. Avadhani

Principal of Andhra University College of Engineering (A) Visakhapatnam. Prof. P. S Avadhani, distinguished Professor of Computer Science and Systems Engineering, presently Principal of Andhra University College of Engineering (A), Visakhapatnam. He received his Master’s degree and Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kanpur).His research focus is on the areas of Computer Algorithms, Public Cryptographic Algorithms, Data & Network Security and Cyber Foresics. Dr. P. S Avadhani has published about 200 refereed scientific papers.He has supervised the dissertations of more than 20 doctoral students. He was invited by Microsoft Corporation to Malaysia to attend a conference on Dot-Net Technologies in June 2004.Served as member of National Board of Accreditation of AICTE and inspected various Engineering Colleges all over India as a member of NBA. Delivered Invited talks at many National & International Conferences andChaired many sessions at National and International Conferences at many places in India and abroad. He was also recently invited by Amirkabir University, Tehran, Iran as a Special Guest for its 1st International Conference on New Research Achievements in Electrical and Computer Engineering held on 9th Sep, 2016 Dr. P. Any injury/deformity occurring to it will affect the normal functioning of other organs in the body. To study the structure and pathological condition of the brain tissues, an image of the brain is needed by a neurologist. Magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) is most commonly used modality to get the image with highest resolution . AN MRI contains collection of images(called slices) termed as volume. A neurologist need to spend time on finding the deformity in the whole volume of the image. This requires a considerable time to analyse the images. Therefore automated methods were developed to study the structure of the brain. An MRI slice not only contains the images of the brain tissues but also that of skull and scalp. In order to make the automated methods to work more efficiently, the brain portion is to be segmented. This process of segmenting the brain is called brain extraction or skull stripping. Presently, I am working developing algorithms to automatically extract brain portion from MRI of human head scans. Another area of research is extracting brain portion from the MRI of the fetal brain used to monitor the growth of the brain of the fetus. Our group also work on image compression using vector quantization and wavelet transform coefficients.

Dr. AREF MEDDEB

AREF MEDDEB (Aref.Meddeb@infcom.rnu.tn) obtained his Engineer’s degree from ENIT, Tunisia, in 1992, and both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Ecole Polytechnique, Montreal, Canada, in 1995 and 1998, respectively. ​He worked with Alcatel, INRS-Telecom, Teleglobe, and Nortel. He was associate professor and vice director at ISITCom, Tunisia, where he also headed the Telecommunications Department. He is currently full Professor and Director of the National School of Engineering, University of Sousse where he also was Director of Study. He also heads the Networked Objects, Control and Communication Systems (NOCCS) research Laboratory.​ His research interests include Internet of Things, Wireless Sensor Networks, RFID with focus on Security, QoS, Routing, and Design.

Dr. Srinivas Pyda

Senior Director in Oracle's System's Technology group in the Server Technology division.I am currently a Senior Director in Oracle's System's Technology group in the Server Technology division. The area of my focus is Server Performance. Have been with Oracle doing Performance work for over two decades now. We are responsible for Oracle's Server performance benchmark publications - both SPEC & TPC. Over the years many world records are published in different areas of the server performance & scaling. Currently focused on scaling & performance of different database server areas such as in-memory, JSON, No SQL, and dbfs, Database Stack Testing - functional & performance, and performance of WebLogic Application sever. Have been managing teams in India, China and USA. Earlier, obtained my Ph.D from IIT, Kanpur, India, in mathematics and an MS in Computer Science from Clarkson University, Potsdam, NY, USA. Also pursued graduate studies and research at the University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA. Before joining Oracle, I worked for ROLM/Siemens in Santa Clara as an Advisory Scientist in its Phone-Mail division. Before that I have also worked at the COMSAT Laboratories (Currently Lockheed Martin) as Member of Technical Staff in its Network Technology Division. During my free time(ie outside of work), I have been very active doing religious and charitable work for non-profit organizations. I have been an associate Treasurer at Stanford University Hospital Auxiliary for over five years. Afterwards, for a period of 6 years, I held the positions of Treasurer, President and Chairman of the Livermore Hindu Temple and currently I am the president of the VasudevanandaSwamy Charitable Org., Inc., in USA. for the last three years.

Dr. Ganesh R. Naik

Ganesh R. Naik received a B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the University of Mysore, India, in 1997, an M.E. degree in Communication and Information Engineering from Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia, in 2002, and a PhD degree in Electronics Engineering, specialising in biomedical engineering and signal processing from RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia, in 2009. Since 2013, he is working as a Chancellor's Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology (FEIT) University of Technology Sydney (UTS). As an early-mid career researcher, he has edited 11 books, authored more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals, conferences, and book chapters over the last seven years. Dr. Naik serves as an associate editor for IEEE ACCESS, Frontiers in Neurorobotics and twoSpringer journals (Circuits, Systems, and Signal Processingand Australasian Physical & Engineering Sciences in Medicine). He is a recipient of the Baden–Württemberg Scholarship from the University of Berufsakademie, Stuttgart, Germany (2006–2007). In 2010, Dr. Naik was awarded an ISSI overseas fellowship from Skilled Institute Victoria, Australia.
